Business Prime adds exactly five things
- Free business shipping benefits
- Spend Visibility
- Guided Buying
- Extended payment terms (45-day on Small, 60-day on Enterprise)
- Prime Business Rewards
Five, and then a set of third-party software offers that vary by tier. That is the entire membership. Everything else you may associate with Amazon Business — business pricing, quantity discounts, multiple users, approval workflows, purchasing reports, tax-exempt purchasing — belongs to the free account underneath and does not require paying for anything.
1. Free business delivery
The headline benefit and, for most buyers, the reason the membership exists. Amazon's wording is "fast, free business delivery" on eligible orders.
We are going to leave that qualifier exactly where Amazon put it. "Eligible" is doing real work in that sentence — it is not a promise of free delivery on everything you buy, and pages that restate it as one are misrepresenting the product. Whether it is worth the fee depends on what you currently pay for shipping, which is the first term in the calculation on is Business Prime worth it.
Available on every tier, including free Duo.
2. Spend Visibility — from Essentials
Amazon's analytics layer for organizational purchasing. The free account already gives you pre-built and custom purchasing reports, so the honest framing is that Spend Visibility is a depth upgrade rather than the difference between having data and not having it.
Who it genuinely helps: an organization where somebody in finance needs to slice spend by department, category or buyer on a recurring basis. Who it does not: a four-person business where the person buying is also the person reading the report.
3. Guided Buying — from Essentials, strongest on Enterprise
Purchasing policy expressed as software. Guided Buying steers buyers toward preferred products and categories. On the Enterprise tier Amazon describes it as being able to block certain purchasing behavior — which is a meaningfully different capability from steering.
That distinction matters when you are choosing a tier. If your requirement is "people should be nudged toward the right products", Essentials covers it. If your requirement is "people must not be able to buy X", that is the Enterprise description.
Note also the difference from approval workflows, which are free: approvals mean an order is reviewed before it is placed; Guided Buying shapes what can be ordered in the first place. Both are covered in multi-user accounts and approvals.
4. Extended payment terms — Small (45 days), Enterprise (60 days)
The benefit that is worth the entire fee to some businesses and nothing at all to others. Amazon includes 45-day payment terms with a Business Credit Account on Small, and 60-day terms on Enterprise.
Two qualifiers, both Amazon's: it requires a Business Credit Account, and it is granted upon approval. It is not automatic with the membership, and if the credit account is declined the benefit does not materialize. Anyone presenting net terms as a guaranteed inclusion of the Small tier is overstating it.
If cash-flow timing is your actual motivation for looking at Business Prime, read Pay by Invoice and net terms before choosing a tier — it is the one benefit where the tier decision is essentially forced.
5. Prime Business Rewards
Amazon publishes 2% back on Duo and Essentials and 4% back on Small, on brands sold by Amazon.
The qualifier again matters: brands sold by Amazon is a subset of the catalog, so applying the headline rate to your total Amazon spend will overstate what you get back. Used properly it still gives a checkable break-even — $179/year at 2% is repaid at roughly $8,950 of qualifying spend — and that arithmetic is on the pricing page.
The software offers
Amazon bundles third-party discounts that differ by tier: 50% off CrowdStrike and 70% off the first year of Gusto on Duo; free CrowdStrike and 60% off QuickBooks Online Simple Start on Essentials and above.
These are genuinely worth money — and they are also the benefit most easily over-counted. Only count what you would have bought anyway. A discount on software you did not need is a purchase, not a saving.

What the membership does not add
Worth stating explicitly, because assumption drives a lot of unnecessary purchases. Business Prime does not add business-only pricing (free), it does not add quantity discounts (free), it does not add the ability to have multiple users (free), it does not add approval workflows (free), and it does not add tax-exempt purchasing (free — see the ATEP guide).
If one of those was your reason for considering it, you already have it. The side-by-side is on Amazon Business vs Business Prime, and the tier ladder is on Business Prime plans compared.
